Give us some grub, and we'll give you a plug.
We're suckers for a good cheese platter.
So how excited were we when Mike from Napoli Deli stopped by with that monster platter pictured above. Mike's sister, Ali, used to work with us and when he bought Napoli, she left to help him out (we miss her dearly).
If you're a local, you just got everything you need for a "wine and cheese" night at home. We'll help you pair the wines with the cheeses, and even slip you a 15% off coupon.
We paired ours with a 2005 Grou 2 Tinto from the Alentejo region of Portugal (Cabacao to be exact). A blend of Aragones, Trincadeira, Alicante Bouschet (all indigenous) and Syrah, it shows some wildflower aromas and some plum fruit on the palate. It shows a little heat on the back end, but when we paired it with the soppersatta the wine POPPED! Plum and cherry fruit became dominant, and the "heat" mellowed. The acidity of the wine needed something a little "stinky".
Salute!
